  • Sam Caplan: It appeared that after the fight was over that you were in the cage having a heated discussion with the head official. Were you happy with the stoppage? Jared Shaw: I wasn’t necessarily angry, I just want to have the right decisions at all times. From my vantage point it looked like the second punch was to the back of the head, which is a foul. That could hit a fighter’s equilibrium and mess them up. And you turn him over and you punch him a couple of times and the ref stops it because there’s no recovery time after that. So I just asked the ref to please look at the video. I asked Thomas Milloy to please look at the video. And Kimbo’s camp will take their own look at the video. I can’t file a protest myself but I think his camp will look at it and decide on their own. I just wanted to make sure the ref saw it from the proper vantage point because I want to make sure we have the right calls at all times. Sounds like Shaw wants the result to be contested, to me. Again PROTECTING KIMBO!

  • I agree, they keep giving all the wrong matchups to Kimbo. Lets face it, Thompson gave Kimbo all he can handle. As much as I would like to see Shamrock win, I dont know. The sport has evolved so much that Shamrock should just sit back and take a different approach. There is only one George Foreman and that guy could probably still dominate the heavy weight division of boxing (since that is all washed up now). Kimbo is overrated, but he is still a big draw for ElitXC. He still has some training to do, before they set him up with a worthy opponent.

  • Shamrock is past his prime but he may still posses the skills to wear down the big man and submit him, look at Kimbo in his last fight if the ref didn't stand them back up (looked fixed to me) that fight was over.Dont get me wrong I like Kimbo surviving that guiolltine choke was impressive.

  • the only thing that would happen if they put him in with the younger fighters would be that all of Kimbo's weaknesses would be exposed for the world to see. not like they weren't against Thompson (who really WON that fight). Put Kimbo in there against anybody that can take him to the mat and see what happens.

  • First off, I'd be lying to say I was never a fan of Ken Shamrock, in fact I was, up until his childish feud with Tito Ortiz (clearly Tito was more skilled and Ken should have just dealt with it after the first "hamburger faced beatdown") But I'm also intrigued by Kimbo. He's a streetbrawler who's got someone of serious credentials in his corner with Bas Rutten. I think that if Kimbo were smart, and I think he very well may be (considering his demeanor and his admitted infancy in MMA) he's listening to Bas about what to work on for the cage. I'm sure if Ken gets the clinch on Kimbo, things may look very bad for the street fighter. However, Bas has probably already addressed this issue and has been preparing Kimbo for such an encounter. Ken may have been a good fighter in his heyday, but I don't think he has what it takes to compete with the top athletes anymore. He should just retire and get it over with. While I'm a huge MMA fan, I'm thinking Kimbo will take this one home with some good G&P or possibly have some very good unseen takedown defense he's worked on to keep this on the feet.

  • As long as they keep protecting him by giving him opponents that are WAY past their prime (Tank Abbot, for one) or guys that are simply not that good (Bo Cantrell, who?) Kimbo will be okay.

  • if / WHEN Shamrock gets Kimbo on the ground it's OVER. Two words: tap out. Kimbo will get exposed by the veteran Shamrock for his weaknesses on the ground - worse than the way Thompson was owning Kimbo in round 2. (BTW, doesn't the ref usually stop a fight if a fighter can't defend himself or improve his position after getting hit a certain number of times while on the mat? if so, Thompson really won that fight.)

  • Man what the hell is Elite XC doing? I think that they are trying to make Kimbo look like a badass by having him beat up all the big name guys from yesteryear as if he's better than they were. In Kimbo's wildest dreams he couldn't beat Ken Shamrock while he was in his prime, hell Bas Rutten couldn't even beat Ken Shamrock. Like Psyclone said they keep feeding him washed up fighters. If they want to make Kimbo look like a badass then they need to put him in there with some young fresh talent and lets see what happends.

  • I think elite needs to pit Kimbo against a good fighter, in my opinion Kimbo is still unproven. I unfortunately missed the fight against Thompson, from what I read it was stopped prematurely or that the end result was bogus. Fighting Tank proved nothing, and beating Shamrock will prove nothing either. The best fight Ive seen on elite was Shamrock vs Cung Li (great by the way), Im all for an other mainstream orginization other than UFC they just need to think out the fights better. Since the UFC put PRIDE out of bussiness there has been a lack of real good events. Anyhow I hope Shamrock does kick kimbos ass but I doubt it, seems like Kens just hard up for cash? I saw Dan the Beast Severn here in the central valley get his ass kicked by some local outta shape nobody with limited skills and it broke my heart. Being a fan of Shamrock I just want to say RETIRE ALREADY KEN!! DONT GO OUT LIKE THAT!!

  • It's so funny to see everyone say this is a washed up fight..Kimbo is a good and upcomming fighter. I feel he was just tossed into the lions cage to fast..Ken was a killer fighter and may have a good fight with Kimbo. So calling Ken washed up is pretty disrespectful to a vet of this type of business..And to see Ken comeback and fight is is exciting. Get over what you read and sit back and watch.
